Plan like a Futurist: Optimize your Strategic Decision Making in Uncertain Conditions

October 13 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

Optimizing strategic plans and actions to generate growth and limit risk is a challenging task in the best of times.  2020 is not one of those times!  A global pandemic, national agitation around social justice and an upcoming presidential election are creating uncertainty about even the near future of the work environment.

Join us on October 13th from 11-12 pm for a hands-on virtual workshop. This workshop is for for strategic leaders and planners, and will share how to use the futurist’s toolkit for optimizing decision making in the context of uncertainty.  The futurist’s toolkit includes methods for combining empirical trend data with the rigorous use of imagination to envision otherwise unforeseen risks and opportunities.

You’ll leave the webinar with a concrete activity you can use yourself, or take back to your organization, to help reduce risk and to make purposeful, informed decisions — even when information does not exist.

Plan Like a Futurist will be led by Dr. Amy Zalman. Amy is founder and CEO of Prescient, a foresight consultancy that helps Fortune 500 firms, governments and non-profit organizations to anticipate and prepare for the future. She is a professor of strategic foresight in the Culture, Communications & Technology Program at Georgetown University, and the founder and director of the Foresight Sandbox, a collaboration with Arizona State University’s School for the Future of Innovation in Society to provide strategic foresight training to business and government leaders. Huffington Post called her one of the world’s seven top futurists in 2015, and she was cited in Forbes as one of the world’s 50 leading female futurists in 2020.

Dr. Zalman’s  previous roles include Chief Executive Officer and President of the World Future Society, and the Chair of Information Integration at the U.S. National War College.  She earned her doctorate from the Department of Middle Eastern & Islamic Studies at New York University.
