Anna Johnson-Winegar, Ph.D.   Anna Johnson-Winegar, Ph.D.
Dr. Anna Johnson-Winegar, who ia a native of Frederick, joined the Fort Detrick Alliance in 2007 and currently serves as the President of the Alliance. more »

Holly Knott   Holly Knott
Ms. Knott was appointed Executive Director by the Board of Directors of the Fort Detrick Alliance in May, 2010. She oversees the day-to-day operations and manages the relationships between the Alliance and its sponsors. more »




Vice President

Michael J. Langford, DVM, Ph.D.
Dr. Langford joined the Board of Directors of the Fort Detrick Alliance in 2008. He is the Research Operations Director at the National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center (NBACC). Prior to accepting this position in 2008, he was President of Emergent Product Development, LLC, in Gaithersburg, MD. His previous position was as Chief Scientific Officer for DynPort Vaccine Company. more »

James M. Miller, Esquire
Mr. Miller joined the Fort Detrick Alliance Board of Directors in 2009. He currently works on the Fort Detrick campus for the United States Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC) where he is the Chief of Contract and Fiscal Law in the office of the Staff Judge Advocate. more »

Robert (Bob) Young, Ph.D.
Dr. Young has been a member of the Fort Detrick Alliance Board of Directors since 2006. He also serves as a member of the Education Committee. more »

David Bufter
A Frederick resident for the past 32 years, Mr. Bufter joined the Fort Detrick Alliance’s Board of Directors in 2009. He currently is employed on the Fort Detrick campus as the Chief Administrative Officer of SAIC-Frederick, Inc., where he has worked for more than three decades as a contractor supporting the National Cancer Institute (NCI) at Frederick, which is the NCI’s Federally Funded Research and Development Center. more »



George E. Lewis, Jr., DVM, Ph.D., COL (USA-RET)
Dr. Lewis joined the Fort Detrick Alliance in 2003 and became its President in 2008. During that time he has been diligent in building a strong relationship between Fort Detrick and the Frederick Community by fostering open communication and a free exchange of ideas between the Board and Fort Detrick’s Garrison Commander. more »



Gregory J. Davenport, Ph.D.
Dr. Davenport is Managing Director of Tunnell Government Services in Bethesda, MD and previously served as President of a publicly traded biopharmaceutical company during his two decades of experience in all phases of biologics and drug development. more »



James A. Romano, Jr., Ph.D.
Dr. Romano joined the Fort Detrick Alliance Board of Directors in 2009. He works at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) in Frederick as a Senior Principal Life Scientist. more »



Laurie Boyer, CEcD
Ms. Boyer has been a Member of the Board of the Fort Detrick Alliance since 2007 and is a member of the Education Committee. She has worked for the Frederick County Government since 1996, joining the staff of the Office of Economic Development in 2001. Ms. Boyer was named Deputy Director of the organization in 2005 and has served as Executive Director since 2007. more »



Richard Given Griffin, AICP, CEcD
Since 2002, Mr. Griffin has served the City of Frederick as Director of Economic Development. An accomplished urban planner and economic developer with 20+ years of professional planning and economic development experience, he is an accredited member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) and is a certified Economic Developer (CEcD). more »



Terry Irgens
Mr. Irgens, who has been a resident of Frederick County for 24 years, works at IBM as an Account Manager of Department of Defense Health Care. His previous experience includes 27 years in the United States Navy from which he retired in 1996 with the grade of Captain. After retirement, Mr. Irgens worked with Northrop Grumman and Computer Science Corporation before joining IBM in 2007. more »
