David Bufter
Board Member



A Frederick resident for the past 32 years, Mr. Bufter joined the Fort Detrick Alliance’s Board of Directors in 2009. He currently is employed on the Fort Detrick campus as the Chief Administrative Officer of SAIC-Frederick, Inc., where he has worked for more than three decades as a contractor supporting the National Cancer Institute (NCI) at Frederick, which is the NCI’s Federally Funded Research and Development Center.

In 1974, Mr. Bufter earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics at Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College) in Westminster. He was awarded an MBA in 1977 by the Virginia Polytechnical Institute.

The Mid-Atlantic Hispanic Chamber of Commerce honored Mr. Bufter as its Corporate Citizen of the Year in 2007.
