James A. Romano, Jr., Ph.D. Board Member
Dr. Romano joined the Fort Detrick Alliance Board of Directors in 2009. He works at Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) in Frederick as a Senior Principal Life Scientist.
Dr. Romano retired from the US Army with the rank of Colonel. During his time in the Army he worked primarily in the area of neurotoxicology. He is the Former Deputy Commander and Commander of the US Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC) and served as Commander of the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense (USAMRICD) at the Aberdeen Proving Ground. Prior to his military service, Dr. Romano was a Professor at Manhattan College in New York where he served in the Psychology Department. He was awarded tenure in 1976. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from The College of the Holy Cross, Dr. Romano matriculated to Fordham University where he received a Master of Arts degree in Psychology and a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology. Dr. Romano belongs to numerous medical and scientific societies; he is a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology. View other Board of Directors |
